Security of quantum key distribution - the BB84 protol [pdf slides, 4 slides/page], M. Boyer (Dec. 2005)

Two hour talk given a the Technion, Israel. Rapid overview of the background necessary and of some methods used to prove security of the BB84 quantum key distribution protocol; the talk was aimed at people interested in the quant-ph/0511175 and the Algorithmica 2002 results.

Sum packing and Griggs' theorem on sums of residues [pdf], M. Boyer (Aug. 2004)

This note first defines Sperner systems and presents a proof of Sperner's theorem based on symmetric chains using an approach similar to Griggs' in his article on the distributions of sums or residues modulo q. Then a detailed proof of Grigg's theorem is presented.

On Mermin's n-player parity game [pdf], M. Boyer (Aug. 2004)

Starting from Mermin's 1990 PRL article and trying to be as faithful as possible to his approach, these self-contained notes aim at giving Mermin's article a meaning relevant to pseudo-telepathy games and end with recent results obtained by Brassard, Broadbent and Tapp (quant-ph/0408052).
