Kake Lambe ( 110 bpm, 120 bpm )
(Montreal Transcription)

The phrasing of Kake Lambe has always given our group problems: some hear it in 3, some in 4 and often various parts clash or drift. The phrasing below came to me when playing parts 3 and 4 with a friend. In most rhythms, Djembe3 would be played (in 3) as "B o o B - -" with the 2 bass notes marking the pulse. In Djembe3 below, the beat falls a note later, on the Open: it works and gives cool syncopation. This suggested the present Kake Lambe transcription of traditional parts shifted to put the (written) pulse in a different (hopefully correct) place.
[ Note: in the WAP version, the pattern starts with the ninth box (B). ]
